Lofi Livestream: The Best 24/7 Streams for Study, Sleep, Jazz and Gaming
The 24/7 lofi streams worth putting on for each mood, what keeps the best ones going for years, and how to get more from the chat and the timers.

The best lofi livestream depends on what you're doing. For studying, put on Lofi Girl's beats to relax/study to. For sleep, switch to its beats to sleep/chill to. For jazz, try Chillhop Radio, and for gaming, Lofi Girl's synthwave radio.
A lofi livestream is a radio station on YouTube that never switches off: one animated scene, a playlist that keeps rolling and a live chat full of people working, reading or winding down with you.
What a 24/7 lofi stream is
The format goes back to 2017, when Lofi Girl's stream started. It's widely known as the first 24/7 music livestream on YouTube. By February 2024 the channel had 13.9 million subscribers, with around 30,000 to 60,000 people listening at the same time.
The number of streams keeps growing, too. In January 2020, Water & Music counted over 30 live broadcasts for "lofi hip hop livestream". In October 2026 the Lofi Girl channel alone had 23 streams live at once, from medieval lofi to fireplace ambience.
People don't dip in and out, either. Water & Music found that one College Music stream averaged 52 minutes per view, which added up to 38 million minutes of watch time in about four months.
A livestream is different from a long lofi video or a playlist. Here's how the three compare.
| Livestream | Long video | Playlist | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How long it runs | Non-stop, day and night | A set length | Until the last track |
| Skipping ahead | Not possible, it's live | Yes | Yes, track by track |
| Same every time | No, the song list moves on | Yes | Yes, unless you shuffle |
| Talking to others | Live chat | Comments | None |
If you want the same hour every day, pick a video or a playlist. If you want company and something new each time, pick a stream.
The best lofi livestream for each mood
For studying
- Lofi Girl, beats to relax/study to. The famous one: a girl writing at her desk, her cat watching the window, and a steady stream of mellow hip hop beats.
- Chillhop, beats to study/relax to. Chillhop's study radio, with chill lofi hip hop for studying and working. The chat has commands that tell you the name of each song.
- Lofi Girl, Study With Me Pomodoro. A stream built around the Pomodoro Technique: 25 minutes of study, then a short break. More on how to use it in the timers section below.
- Lofi Girl, asian lofi radio. Lofi with an East Asian theme, made to relax or study to. If you like that sound, my piece on Japan lofi goes deeper.
For why lofi suits focused work in the first place, see the guide to lofi study music.
For sleeping
- Lofi Girl, beats to sleep/chill to. The night-time partner to the study stream, made for sleeping and chilling rather than working.
- Lofi Girl, sleep lofi radio. Soft melodies and warm lofi textures in a cosy bedroom scene. Good once you're already in bed.
- Chillhop, late night vibes radio. Dreamy, atmospheric beats for when you're ready for sleep, or still up well past bedtime.
- the bootleg boy, sad & sleepy beats. Stereofox described the bootleg boy's stream as melancholy and romantic, with rain sounds. It suits a rainy night.
There's more on choosing night-time lofi in lofi for sleeping.
For jazz
- Lofi Girl, jazz lofi radio. Lofi beats with a jazz lean, made to chill or study to.
- Chillhop Radio, jazzy & lofi hip hop beats. Chillhop's main stream, playing jazzy beats from its own label. The sound is covered properly in chillhop beats.
- Lofi Girl, relaxing jazz music. Closer to straight jazz: smooth piano, bass and drums in a jazz bar scene.
If jazzy lofi is your favourite corner, the guide to lofi jazz has more to explore.
For gaming
- Lofi Girl, synthwave radio. Retro synths with a steady beat, made "to chill/game to". Its character, Synth Boy, joined the Lofi Girl world in April 2023, WBUR reported.
- Lofi Girl, lofi house radio. Lofi house with four-on-the-floor beats and rolling basslines. It's pitched at the evening after work, and the steady beat suits games where you want a bit more energy.
Lofi for gaming covers which sounds suit which kinds of game.
For the season
The bigger channels add seasonal streams. Lofi Girl runs a Christmas lofi radio and, in October, a Halloween ambience stream, and Chillhop has an Essentials Radio for autumn. For more festive picks, see lofi Christmas music.
What keeps a stream running for years
Some of these streams have been on air for years. Both of Chillhop's main radios have been live since 21 March 2020, more than six years without a break. Lofi Girl's synthwave radio has run since July 2023.
The long-running streams share a few things:
- Music the channel controls. Lofi Girl runs its own record label, and Chillhop's radio plays beats from its label. When a channel owns the catalogue, it can keep the playlist going without leaning on anyone else's rights.
- A face people recognise. Think of Chillhop's raccoon, Synth Boy, or Lofi Girl and her cat. A character gives people a reason to come back to the same stream rather than any stream.
- A community. The live chat gives people somewhere to talk while they listen, which turns a playlist into a place.
Even the biggest stream can be knocked off air, though. In July 2022, false copyright claims took down Lofi Girl's main stream after more than two years of non-stop broadcasting. YouTube confirmed the claims were abusive and apologised.
Streams also end and start again. Lofi Girl's current study stream began in August 2026, and the older links now point to finished broadcasts. That's the one practical tip from all this: bookmark the channel's Live tab, not the video link. Lofi Girl's is youtube.com/@LofiGirl/streams.
How to use the live chat
YouTube gives you two views of the chat. Top chat filters out messages such as likely spam, and Live chat shows every message as it comes in. You can switch between them at any time from the top of the chat panel. On a busy stream, Top chat is the easier one to follow.

Some channels add commands to the chat. Chillhop's streams list them in the description:
- !track gets the name of the song that's playing.
- !next and !previous show the songs either side of it.
- !spotify finds the current track on Spotify.
- !love upvotes the current song.
The chat on the big streams is a friendly place. In a WBUR piece, a researcher who studied Lofi Girl's chat windows called it "a surprisingly nontoxic environment", where people offer each other encouragement.
Timers for study sessions and sleep
Lofi Girl's Study With Me Pomodoro stream is built around the Pomodoro Technique. Its description sets out how to use it:
- Choose a task.
- Study for 25 minutes.
- Take a 5 minute break.
- Repeat that four times.
- Take a 15 minute break as your reward.
For sleep, use YouTube's own sleep timer. Open Settings in the player, choose Sleep timer and pick how long you want. The stream pauses when the time is up.
Build your own lofi channel with Chillframe
From over 30 streams in 2020 to 23 on a single channel in October 2026, this is a space that keeps growing, and a good one to get into.

Chillframe makes the videos a lofi channel runs on. It makes original music fresh for each video, the scene, and the finished video, then publishes it to your YouTube channel. That covers the first thing on the list above: the music is yours to use, because every plan includes full commercial rights.
For a study channel, a good schedule is a new hour of beats each weekday morning, before lessons start. To set that up:
- Pick a study look. Anime Rooftop Dusk and Anime Night Train from the Lofi Anime presets suit a study crowd, or describe your own scene, like a classroom window in early light. Jazz Coffeeshop suits jazz fans and Synthwave suits gamers, if you'd rather aim there.
- Leave the sound on Instrumental. That's beats with no singing, the default and the right fit for studying. With vocals is there if you want singing on top.
- Schedule Monday to Friday at 7am. A Series automatically makes a fresh video for each of those mornings and publishes it with an optimised title, description and tags, and a thumbnail taken from the video.
- Approve Monday's video. Your first post is always held for review. After that, every school morning is fully hands-off.
The limit to know: Chillframe makes and publishes videos up to 1 hour long. It doesn't broadcast live. If you want a 24/7 stream as well, you'd run the broadcast yourself on top of the videos, and my guide to starting a lofi YouTube channel covers that radio setup step by step.
One study Series of still scenes fits the Starter plan at $19 a month. The gently moving scenes these streams are known for, and three Series for study, sleep and gaming side by side, come with the Creator plan at $49.
Lofi livestream FAQ
What is the best lofi livestream for studying?
Lofi Girl's beats to relax/study to is the one most people mean, and it's a good place to start. If you work better in timed blocks, try Lofi Girl's Study With Me Pomodoro stream, with 25 minutes of study and a 5 minute break. Chillhop's beats to study/relax to suits you if you like to look up each song as it plays.
Does the Lofi Girl livestream ever stop?
The music keeps going, but a single stream doesn't last forever. False copyright claims knocked the main stream off air in July 2022, and the current study stream began in August 2026. Bookmark youtube.com/@LofiGirl/streams and you'll always land on whatever is live.
How do I find the name of a song on a lofi livestream?
Check the stream's description first, because some channels list chat commands there. On Chillhop's streams, type !track in the live chat to get the song that's playing, or !spotify to find it on Spotify.
Can I set a sleep timer on a lofi livestream?
Yes, YouTube has one built in. Open Settings in the player, choose Sleep timer and pick how long you want. The stream pauses when the time is up.
Can I run my own 24/7 lofi livestream?
Yes. You need music you have the rights to, a scene that loops and a setup that keeps the broadcast going, and my guide to starting a lofi YouTube channel covers it step by step. Chillframe makes the long videos with original music and matching visuals, and you set up the live broadcast on top.
