Step 1
Pick Tone or Binaural beats.
A free frequency generator for single tones and binaural beats, from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
Pick Tone or Binaural beats.
Set the frequency with the slider, the number box or a preset like 432 Hz. For binaural beats, set the Base tone and pick a Beat.
Press Play with the volume low, then raise it slowly. Use headphones for binaural beats.
Tone mode plays one frequency anywhere from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, the range usually given for human hearing. Most adults lose the top of that range with age, so if the far end of the slider sounds like silence, that is normal.
The slider is on a log scale, the way your ear hears pitch, so each step covers more hertz at the top than at the bottom. Type an exact number in the box, or use the buttons for steps of 1 and 10 Hz.
Sine is a pure tone. Square, Triangle and Sawtooth add overtones and sound buzzier, so Square and Sawtooth play quieter. Changes glide rather than jump. Volume starts at 20%, because very high and very low tones can be louder than they sound and can damage speakers and hearing.
440 Hz is the A above middle C, the pitch most instruments tune to. It became the international standard, ISO 16, in 1975.
432 Hz tunes that same A about 32 cents lower, roughly a third of a semitone. It is a favorite for sleep and meditation music, and whether it relaxes people more than 440 Hz is still argued about. 528 Hz is one of the so-called Solfeggio frequencies, and you'll see it in the titles of a lot of meditation videos. 1000 Hz is a clear middle tone for checking that your speakers work.
A binaural beat is two tones a few hertz apart, one in each ear. You hear a slow pulse at the difference. With a Base tone of 200 Hz and a Beat of 10 Hz, your left ear gets 195 Hz and your right ear 205 Hz.
It only works through headphones. Speakers mix the two tones in the room before they reach you, and you hear an ordinary beat instead.
The Beat presets are named after brainwave bands, each sitting inside its band: Delta 2 Hz (delta is 0.5 to 4 Hz), Theta 6 Hz (4 to 7), Alpha 10 Hz (8 to 13) and Beta 20 Hz (13 to 30). Custom takes anything from 0.5 to 40 Hz, and the Base tone runs from 100 to 1000 Hz.
Whether the beat changes your brainwaves is not settled. A 2023 review of 14 EEG studies found 5 that supported the idea, 8 that didn't and 1 with mixed results. People use binaural beats for sleep, study and meditation all the same, and plenty of them like the sound for its own sake.
In the US, Google's Keyword Planner shows about 40,500 searches a month for binaural beats and 27,100 for 432 Hz. It is a busy corner of the sleep and meditation space, and a calm one to build a channel in.
Chillframe makes the calm music, the visual and the finished video, up to an hour long, and publishes it to YouTube on the days you pick. It doesn't tune music to exactly 432 Hz or add a binaural beat, so check a track before you put a frequency in its title.

Yes. Each ear has to get its own tone. On speakers the two tones mix in the room and you hear an ordinary beat instead.
It means tuning the note A to 432 Hz instead of the standard 440 Hz, about a third of a semitone lower. Press the 432 Hz preset to hear the tone on its own.
Delta beats, under 4 Hz, are the ones linked with sleep, because delta waves show up in deep sleep. The Delta preset plays 2 Hz. Research on whether the beat changes your brainwaves is mixed.
Yes, at high volume. Very high and very low tones can be louder than they sound, so the volume starts at 20%. Raise it slowly.
The top of the hearing range fades for most adults, and further with age. Small phone and laptop speakers also struggle at both ends, so try headphones.
Two tones a few hertz apart, one in each ear. You hear a slow pulse at the difference, so 195 Hz in the left ear and 205 Hz in the right sound like a 10 Hz beat.
Yes. Pick Tone and Sine for a pure sine wave at any frequency from 20 to 20,000 Hz, or switch to Square, Triangle or Sawtooth.

Left ear 195 Hz, right ear 205 Hz. Use headphones: each ear needs its own tone, and speakers blend them together.
Start quiet and turn it up slowly. Very high and very low tones can be louder than they sound, and can damage speakers and hearing.
