Pick Long videos or Shorts, then your niche.
Read the monthly and yearly range, or press Copy estimate to keep it.
Put in your daily views and you get a monthly and yearly range straight away. Behind it, the calculator turns daily views into monthly views and multiplies them by an RPM range for your niche and video type. RPM is what a channel keeps for every 1,000 views after YouTube's share, so the result is money paid to you, not what advertisers spent.
The answer is always a range. RPM moves with where your viewers live, the time of year and how long they watch, so one exact figure would look precise and still be wrong.
A good way to use it is backwards. Pick the monthly figure you want, then slide the views until the range reaches it. That gives you a daily view count to aim for.
These are the ranges the calculator uses, in US dollars per 1,000 views. They come from published RPM studies and creator reports. The lofi range matches the Chillframe guide to lofi channel earnings. The sleep and ambient row, and the Shorts figures for the three music niches, are Chillframe's own estimates, because the published studies don't break those out.
Shorts pay far less per view. Ad money from the Shorts feed goes into a shared pool, a Short that uses a licensed music track sends half or more of its share to music licensing, and creators keep 45% of what is allocated to them. From 1 February 2027, a channel also needs 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days to earn from that pool in a given month. The calculator does not check for that.
| Niche | Long videos | Shorts |
|---|---|---|
| Lofi and study music | $1.20 to $2.50 | $0.01 to $0.05 |
| Sleep and ambient sounds | $1.00 to $3.50 | $0.01 to $0.05 |
| Music | $0.50 to $2.00 | $0.01 to $0.04 |
| Gaming | $1.50 to $5.00 | $0.02 to $0.08 |
| Education | $4.00 to $12.00 | $0.05 to $0.15 |
| Finance | $8.00 to $20.00 | $0.10 to $0.25 |
| General | $1.00 to $4.00 | $0.03 to $0.10 |
To earn from ads, a channel joins the YouTube Partner Program with 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 watch hours on long videos in the last 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. For new channels applying from 1 February 2027, the bar is 8,000 watch hours or 20 million Shorts views. Channels already in the Partner Program are not affected.
Memberships and other fan funding open earlier, at 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views.
Long, calm videos suit the watch hours route. One person who leaves a one hour study mix playing to the end adds a full hour.
This is where the math works in favor of music channels. People put a long music video on and leave it playing, for an hour of study or a whole night, and that watch time is exactly what the Partner Program counts. The RPM sits at the lower end of the table, so views do most of the work, and a bigger catalog of long videos gives people more to find.
Building that catalog is the part Chillframe does for you. A Series automatically makes fresh videos on the days and times you choose and publishes them to your channel.

Still stuck? Try the help centerIt depends on the niche and the audience. In this calculator, lofi and music channels keep about $0.50 to $2.50 per 1,000 long video views, and finance channels $8 to $20. Shorts pay cents per 1,000 views.
On long videos, about $1,200 to $2,500 for a lofi channel and $8,000 to $20,000 for a finance channel. The same million views on lofi Shorts come to about $10 to $50, which is why long videos carry a music channel.
It depends on views and niche. At 10,000 views a day on long videos, a lofi channel makes about $370 to $760 a month and a finance channel about $2,400 to $6,100 a month.
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube takes its share. RPM is what you keep per 1,000 views after that share, counting views that showed no ads, so it is always lower.
1,000 for ad money, along with 4,000 watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. Memberships open at 500 subscribers.
It gives a range from published RPM figures, not your own channel's data. Once you are in the Partner Program, YouTube Studio shows your real RPM, and you can see where you land against the range here.
No. It covers what YouTube pays per view. Sponsorships, merch and brand deals come on top, and YouTube leaves them out of RPM too.
Yes. It runs in your browser and never asks for your channel, so try as many what-ifs as you like.
