What a visualizer adds to a music video

A song over a still picture works, but nothing on screen tells you the track is playing. A visualizer moves with the sound, so the bars jump on the drums and settle in the quiet parts. It gives a music upload something to watch without taking attention away from the music.

The preview and the export use the same drawing code and the same audio math, so the video you download moves the way the preview did.

Choosing a style for your channel

Bars, Wave, Ribbon and Dots sit along the bottom or across the middle, which leaves the top of a background image clear. Dots is a grid of small lights with a soft, lofi feel, and Bars is the classic spectrum with peak caps.

Mirror sends bars up and down from a center line, which suits beats and electronic tracks. Circle draws bars around a ring and puts your image in the middle, turning slowly like a record.

For sleep and ambient music, calmer is better, because the screen is often on in a dark room. Ring is a circle that breathes with the level. Pulse has no bars at all: the background image eases in on the bass, with a thin line that grows with the volume.

Pick one of 7 colors or your own, dim the background up to 80% so the visualizer stands out, and add a line of text such as the track or channel name.

1080p or 4K, and how long it takes

Every frame is drawn to your music at 30 frames a second, so a long track takes a while. The bar shows how long is left. The video is as long as your song, up to 1 hour. Songs up to 10 minutes are free, and longer ones need a free Chillframe account.

The export aims for 8 Mb/s at 1080p and 35 Mb/s at 4K, in line with YouTube's recommended bitrates for 30 fps uploads. That makes big files, about 3.5 GB for an hour at 1080p. Pick 4K if your channel posts in 4K, and 1080p if you want a faster, smaller file.

No watermark, and no upload

There's no logo or watermark on the video. Your song and image never leave your device, because the video is made in your browser. Keep the tab open until it's done.
